The best opportunity in New England, this outstanding ED is seeking a board certified, residency trained emergency physician with a clean malpractice history and strong clinical experience in a busy ED who has demonstrated an excellent patient satisfaction track record.  The opportunity is available to someone who fits the requirements and can be available to start prior to 2010.  The ED physicians are employees of a financially sound medical center with a profitable ED, and are led by one of the top directors in the specialty.  The reasons for considering this position are:

  • Top rated medical facility featuring cancer center, behavioral health center, cardiology center and academic affiliations with both UCONN and Yale
  • A peer group of physicians in the ED support each other and work with an involved and dedicated director
  • Level 2 trauma center with a 60K annual census including a 20% admission rate, low Peds and high blunt and vehicular trauma
  • Superb back-up and smooth consults as well as Pediatric and Orthopedic PAs available daily
  • Outstanding support from hospital administration and medical staff with no admits or patient holding
  • Physicians work 8-hour shifts and only work a total of 1,328 hours annually
  • Spacious, recently renovated physical plant with 32 treatment bays, bedside Ultrasound, 5-bed prompt care area, digital PAX radiology and Electronic Medical Records
  • Strong EMS involvement with in-house base command for both ground and air transport
  • The ED has it’s own IT coordinator and dedicated nursing and technician support

The compensation could possibly be the highest in the state, with three components:

  • Base salary of $250,000.00
  • RVU compensation averaging $2,000 to $5,000 per quarter
  • Comprehensive benefit package valued at $65,000.00 before malpractice costs
  • 9 weeks of paid leave result in total annual clinical hours of 1,328
  • Annual income tops $335
